Q1. What gender are you?

 

A greater proportion of survey respondants were male, with 13 people as opposed to the female of 7.

 

Q2. What age range are you in?

 

The 17-20 category was the fullest, with 6 respondants. This is useful to me as I fall into this age category which may mean that I will find it easier tyo assovciate with this age category and cater to their wishes. This is an ideal potential target age. The least popular category was 60+, with only one respondant.

Q3. What is your favourite film genre?

Comedy and romantic comedy were popular genres, as well as documentary and horror. Sci-Fi and Drama were the least popular genre, with only one respondant for each.
Q4. How do you watch films? (Select two answers that apply)

 

I was surprised to see that television was the most popular way to watch films. However, with digital boxes such as Sky+ and Virgin, audiences can now select and access films whenever they wish. They can also record programmes and films to watch later. Virgin Media's Tivo service is an example of this. Audiences can now experience much more flexibility. DVD and rented DVD were also popular choices. The cinema was not as popular as I thought it would be, with only 5 out of 40 responses. When I asked people why they didn't opt for cinema, prices seemed to be the main barrier. This means that my teaser trailer would have to entice the audience to visit the cinema.

Films that people can watch with their friends or family were popular, with 10 people choosing them. Films that make people laugh and cry were also very popular, with 7 respondants each. Clearly, people enjoy films that draw an emotional response for them. As I am thinking about making a film that pulls on people's heart strings, this is good news. The two people that chose the "Other" category stated that they enjoyed films that inspired them and leave them on a cliffhanger.

 

Q6. When watching a film trailer, what makes the most impact and encourages you to watch the film?(Please circle two that apply)

The most popular category here was vibrant characters, followed by characters speaking directly to the audience and use of special effects. I will take these into account when making my teaser trailer.
